Is FX Replay better than TradingView?

Neither is better across the board: FX Replay is built around replay sessions and a journal, TradingView around charts, a Strategy Tester and Bar Replay.

Updated

The short answer

It depends on the job. The two tools overlap, but they were built around different things. FX Replay’s pricing page is organised around backtesting sessions, replay and a journal. TradingView’s support pages describe a Strategy Tester that runs scripts, and a separate Bar Replay.

Pick by the question you are asking. Everything about other tools here was read from vendor pages in October 2026. Check the vendor for anything current.

Strategy Tester
TradingView’s tool for running a strategy script over a chart’s history.
Bar Replay
TradingView’s feature for starting at a past bar and moving forward through the chart.
Deep Backtesting
A TradingView mode that tests over all available history for a symbol, not only what is loaded on the chart.
Paper trading
Placing orders against a simulated account instead of a real one.

What TradingView gives you

TradingView has a free Basic plan. Its pricing page shows paid plans from $12.95 a month billed annually, as of October 2026. Extra real-time and intraday data for exchanges such as CME is added separately and needs a paid plan or a trial.

The Strategy Tester fills orders using the chart’s open, high, low and close values. The regular test uses only the data loaded on the chart. Deep Backtesting uses all available history for the symbol. It needs a Premium or higher plan and is capped at two million bars and one million trades.

Bar Replay lets you pick a start bar and press play or step forward one bar at a time. One limit matters for practice: TradingView says trading orders are executed using real-time data, including in Paper Trading. So an order placed during a replay does not fill against the history you are replaying.

What FX Replay gives you

FX Replay has a free plan. Its page shows 2 backtesting sessions and 1 indicator on that plan, and a journal on every plan. Futures and CME data is listed on the Pro plan only.

Its paid plans add things like rewind price, more sessions and charts, and Monte Carlo and risk-to-reward simulators. The pricing page shows figures that disagree with each other, so we do not quote a price. Check the vendor.

Compare tools by the job: a scripted test over history, or practice one bar at a time. They answer different questions.

Different jobs

A scripted test, such as TradingView’s Strategy Tester, needs rules written as code. It returns a count of trades and statistics. It answers what exact rules would have done.

A replay tool answers how a setup looks and how you handle it as the chart unfolds. You make each decision yourself, so the sample is only as big as the time you spend.

Some people use both. Replay to find a setup, a test to count it. We cover that loop in our explainer on backtesting, forward testing and replay.

Where our free replay sits

Our Trade Lab is a free replay and paper-trading tool for NQ, ES and gold (GC) futures. You need an account with a verified email. You step forward through 1-minute bars, the server never sends a later bar, and paper fills are evaluated on 1-minute bars.

It replays history only. There is no live data and no real order is ever placed.

Questions and answers

Is FX Replay better than TradingView for futures?

They do different jobs, so there is no single answer. FX Replay lists futures and CME data on its Pro plan only. TradingView adds CME data separately and needs a paid plan or a trial for it. Check each vendor.

Does TradingView have a replay feature?

Yes. Bar Replay starts at a chosen historical bar and moves forward by play or one bar at a time. TradingView says orders in it use real-time data, including Paper Trading.

Is FX Replay free?

It has a free plan. Its pricing page shows 2 backtesting sessions and 1 indicator on that plan. Paid plans add more.

Is there a free replay tool for futures?

Yes. Our Trade Lab is free with an account and a verified email, for NQ, ES and gold (GC) futures.
