Tradezella and Edgewonk replay vs a free futures replay

Tradezella lists backtesting and trade replay inside a journal, Edgewonk describes a journal, and the Trade Lab is a free futures replay.

Updated

The short answer

Tradezella and Edgewonk are trading journals first. Tradezella also lists bar-by-bar backtesting and a trade replay. Edgewonk’s pricing page describes a journal and does not mention replay. The Trade Lab is a replay first, with a journal built in, and it is free.

Facts about the two journals are from tradezella.com/pricing and edgewonk.com/pricing, read in October 2026. We run the Lab.

Tradezella

Its pricing page lists three plans. Manual backtesting is shown on all three, listing stocks, futures, crypto and CFDs against “11+ years of historical data”. Trade replay is “Unlimited replays” on Pro and Ultra and “Not included” on Essential. The page says all plans support 500+ broker and prop firm integrations, and shows no free plan or trial length.

Edgewonk

Its pricing page describes a trading journal with “structured performance analytics”. It shows $35 billed monthly or $197 for 12 months, and a 14-day money-back guarantee. It lists “Strategy testing” and a “Performance simulator” but does not say whether they replay historical prices, and does not mention bar replay or trade replay. Anything beyond that is for Edgewonk to say.

A different kind of replay

A journal replay normally revisits trades you already took. A bar replay such as the Trade Lab shows history before you decide, so it practises the decision itself. The Lab keeps a journal of those decisions: long, short, no trade or wait, with tags and a note, stamped by the server.

The Lab does not connect to a broker and does not import real trades.

That also means the two do not overlap much. Nothing in the Lab reads your broker statement, scores a live account or syncs prop accounts. If you want that, a journal is the tool. If you want to rehearse a setup on NQ, ES or gold before you risk anything, the Lab is the tool, and its cost is only the daily limits listed below.

Both kinds of tool depend on the person using them. A replay session only teaches something if you write down the decision before you step, and a journal only helps if you review it.

What the Trade Lab does not have

The Lab replays history only. It has no live data, no real order is ever placed, and it covers three markets: NQ, ES and GC. Data is 1-minute bars, so there is no tick, seconds or order-flow data, and paper fills are modelled on those 1-minute bars and approximate real fills. A replay cannot be moved backward, and the Lab has no built-in indicators.

Each account can read 40 distinct 1-minute sessions and start 5 new runs per UTC day, and it needs a verified email. The Lab itself is free.

Which one fits

Match the tool to the habit you want to build.

  • Reviewing the trades you actually took, across accounts: a journal is built for that.
  • Practising the next decision on history, for free: a bar replay.
  • Both: many traders keep a journal for live trades and a replay for practice.
A journal looks back at trades you took; a bar replay lets you practise the decision before you see what comes next.

Questions and answers

Does Tradezella have a free plan?

Its pricing page shows no free plan and states no free trial length. Trade replay is listed on Pro and Ultra, not Essential.

Does Edgewonk have a replay feature?

Its pricing page does not mention bar replay or trade replay. It lists strategy testing and a performance simulator without describing them.

Is there a free futures replay with a journal?

Yes. The Trade Lab replays NQ, ES and GC bar by bar and keeps a journal of each decision. It is free with a verified email.

Can the Trade Lab import my real broker trades?

No. It records only the decisions and paper trades you make inside the replay.
